18" x 24" Prismacolor Painting: _______________________________
At the time that I drew this one I was thinking a great deal about the war and the effects that wars always have on people. I often contemplated the ethics of war and the sometimes necessity of conflict and what this necessity says about us as a human race.
I truly believe that most people really are good. They live and they love and they do the best that they can to follow that which they believe to be true. However, war is not caused by most people. It is caused by wicked individuals who will do anything to achieve power and get what they want. So where does that leave the rest of us? Do we stand by and allow these individuals to destroy our freedom and other’s freedom or do we fight back?
This painting is of the Father of one who has decided to fight back. His son or daughter has gone to war and he is left at home. He is powerless to protect his child from the atrocities that he knows they will face and so all that is left to him is to do that which all parents must somehow do, let go.
