Drawing of a girl standing in the wind

Lately I’ve really been into the idea of drawing the wind. I attempted it in the last drawing I did of the horse and now I attempted it in this one. I put the girl a little off center and facing away from the center because I wanted the focus to be on the wind itself and to kind of give the feeling that she’s almost being blown out of the picture. Not really, cuz it’s not a harsh or vigorous wind, just sort of in a symbolic way or something… ya. I think I’ll call this one Listening to the Wind.

Well, I felt kinda bad that I never posted that drawing in progress that I was going to do. I just couldn’t get excited about that drawing. So I decided to do it with the drawing I did today. I started this late last night just before I went to bed and finished it a few minutes ago. It’s a drawing of a horse that lives right here in my hometown of Fairview. So here are the pictures I took of my progression starting with a light pencil sketch. (more…)
A painting of a scene from Zion’s national park, violets and greens in nature
Monday, March 16th, 2009This is a painting I did from a photo that was taken in Zion’s national park. A gallery down there wants me to do a bunch of paintings of the area so my family and I went and took a ton of pictures and this is the result of one of those photos. The one below of the cowboy was from the same photoshoot. The cowboy is actually my brother Shane. Anyway, I just finished this last night and really like the way it came out.
