My new favorite. Yep. Definitely. I call it Seeking the Light. It’s really about seeking wisdom, truth. Light and truth are synonymous. D&C 88

I have a show in St. George this weekend so I’ve been working on a bunch of new paintings. I want to keep things fresh, you know? The show is called the Open Air Art Affair and it’s being put on by Ed Wallace and Gayla Prince Wallace. I’ve been to a few of their shows now and they’re really nice. I love the atmosphere and it’s really fun to meet other artists and art lovers. Anyway, here are my latest paintings. I’ve actually finished 2 more as well as these but they haven’t been photographed yet. Hopefully I’ll be able to post them tomorrow.
My husband and I are working on a collaborative project. When he takes a photo that inspires me I do a painting of it. The last 2 peices that I blogged about were part of this project as well as 2 others that I blogged about in the past. I thought you might like to see the photos next to the paintings. We’re going to present our idea to galleries and see what they think. It’s a cool idea because the photos are art in and of themselves and the drawings are art in and of themselves. When you see them side by side you see the beauty and uniqueness of each piece and each style of art. They compliment each other and together become a new and original form of art. So here you go. The photos next to the drawings.

It’s been forever since I last blogged! Sometimes life gets so busy that you forget to do the little things, you know?
I’ve been getting ready for the show at the DeZion gallery lately. Today, my Dad and I drove down to my grandparent’s house to drop off a bunch of pieces that will be in the show. My grandpa has agreed to make the frames for all the art. Normally my brother Jake would do it but he’s kind of on his honeymoon right now so he’s a little busy
. Anyway, Grandpa makes fantastic frames so I’m really excited to see how they come out. I’m sure they’ll be amazing. It was fun to see my grandparents reaction to the art. They’re so proud! Grandma’s eyes just lit up as she was looking at it. Man, it always makes me feel so good to make my family proud of me. After all, family is what it’s all about.
Yesterday was annoying. I want to get my work into some more galleries so my Dad (who’s the marketing guy for willowrise) and I decided to drive into town to show my work to gallery owners and see if they’d take it. What we didn’t know is that all the galleries in the city are closed on Mondays. We couldn’t find a single one that was open. So annoying! We drove an hour and a half each way for nothing! So now we’re gonna have to go again tomorrow. This time however we’re going to do our homework and find out what galleries are open when so we don’t waste an entire day driving for no reason. Grrrr!
I didn’t want the whole day to be shot so when I got home I painted this. It only took maybe an hour as you can probably tell but I think it came out okay for what it is. I used turpenoid and prismacolor for the background and then just prismacolor for the forground. So the day wasn’t entirely wasted. I feel a little better.
Okay, I may be goofy but I really liked the way the sky looked in the photo that I took of the painting I just finnished so I went back and drew clouds in to make it look like the photo. I think it’s better now than it was before! Ha. Thank goodness for bad photography.
