My husband and I are working on a collaborative project. When he takes a photo that inspires me I do a painting of it. The last 2 peices that I blogged about were part of this project as well as 2 others that I blogged about in the past. I thought you might like to see the photos next to the paintings. We’re going to present our idea to galleries and see what they think. It’s a cool idea because the photos are art in and of themselves and the drawings are art in and of themselves. When you see them side by side you see the beauty and uniqueness of each piece and each style of art. They compliment each other and together become a new and original form of art. So here you go. The photos next to the drawings.
Here is my finished painting. I’m going to call it Searching for the Sun. I’ve included some close up pictures so you can see the details better. (more…)
Well, I felt kinda bad that I never posted that drawing in progress that I was going to do. I just couldn’t get excited about that drawing. So I decided to do it with the drawing I did today. I started this late last night just before I went to bed and finished it a few minutes ago. It’s a drawing of a horse that lives right here in my hometown of Fairview. So here are the pictures I took of my progression starting with a light pencil sketch. (more…)
I drew this at work. I mentioned in an earlier blog that I was going to start doing some small drawings during my down time at work. This one is finished so I think I’ll put it up for bid on ebay. I really like the way it came out. You can click on the image to see it larger.
18″x24″ Colored Pencil Drawing. 2006__ I love horses and I love the winter. They just seemed like a good combination. This horse is free in the wild. Maybe he’s wandered from the herd a bit and has paused to gaze at the viewer who is gazing back at him.
I am fascinated by the natural world around me and the people who live in it. Nature is art, and I love to try and capture the beauty that resonates through it. Everything and everyone has a story to tell. Everything and everyone around us is full of emotion and life and has had experiences that we can’t even imagine.
